The Hardship Fund
The Crisis Fund
The aim of The Make A Difference Trust Crisis Fund is to provide support to those in need who are:
- Currently employed within the entertainment industry
- Living with a diagnosed long term chronic illness
- Experiencing unexpected financial poverty which threatens to destabilise their ability to remain in employment
- Unable to meet the costs through available statutory or personal finances.
Currently The Crisis Fund is only able to support applicants resident within a London Borough however The Trust hopes to increase this geographical remit in 2012/13.
The Crisis Fund is able to provide moderate support with the following:
Utility Bills – Where a utility payment is requested you will be required to provide the original bill for payment complete with counterfoil. This bill must be in your name and at the address you have listed in the application form. We will support Gas, Electric, Water, Telephone (UK) bills. We cannot pay credit card debts or refund retrospective payments.
White Goods – Where a white good unexpectedly breaks down and is un-repairable we can look to provide you with a new item. This does not include items deemed to be luxury goods and your supporting information must explain clearly the reason why this need is directly related to your current health status. The Fund can only support the purchase of one item per application.
Emergency Funds – These are small pockets of cash which can be provided to help with the replacement of clothing, food, bedding or travel in extreme circumstances and where the need is directly related to your health condition. The circumstances will need to be clearly explained in the application and where the issue has arisen through events such as theft, fire, or personal attack etc., you may be asked to provide a crime reference number to legitimise your application.
The Crisis Fund reserves the right to make the final decision on the grants it will make and in some cases The Funds response may be to refer you on to more suitable agencies to deal with your presenting needs.
If you wish to proceed with an application to The Crisis Fund you can either download the forms or and a form will be posted to you.
You will be required to provide proof of your medical status at the time of application so we suggest you ask your doctor for a support letter at the same time as completing the form so as to speed up any response The Fund is able to make to you.
